November 21, 2004 "New Beginnings"
Speaker Jackie Rose

Welcome to the Prime Timers A.B.F!

Class is held each Sunday from 10:10 am until 10:50. This years program is called The God of Continuing Creation, and you are invited!

We are using The New International Lesson Annual, published by Abingdon Press.

Happy Thanksgiving

Henny Penny, the Prime Timers chicken, is usually pictured here, along with some news of blessings about fellow Prime Timers. This week its Henny herself who is blessed by being a chicken and not a turkey!  Several members this week commented on the activities at the Annual Parish Retreat at Camp Allen, and especially the speaker, the Rev. Dr. Russell Levenson, Jr., Rector of Christ Church in Pensacola, FL. Rev. Levenson also gave the sermon at the 9:00 and 11:00 am services.

At any rate, Henny, Jackie, Skip, Rev. Elwood, Anne, Marty and all the people who make the Prime Timers A.B.F. happen wish all of you a very wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

The Prime Timers are the Party Timers!

When I wrote the date above (Nov 21) it reminded me that the holidays are upon us, and my New Years resolution to do my Christmas shopping early will have to wait until next year.  Its also less than three weeks until the Prime Timers next party, hosted by Skip and Caroline Maryan on Dec. 10. We will post more details as we get them!

Meet Prime Timers Donn Fullenweider, Betsy Sanders, returning St. Martins member Betsy Jennings and Outreach leader Anne Berry.

Enjoying coffee and fellowship this past week with the Prime Timers is new member Ann Wilson.  Ann conducts the Christian Life Studies (Bible Classes) program on Thursdays.

The Lesson for this Sunday, Nov. 21 is titled "New Beginnings"

Key Verse:  2 Corinthians 5:17

Focus of the Lesson:  People often long for a fresh start, where the past is no longer a factor. Where can we find such renewal? Paul writes of the new creation we have become in Christ and the possibilities this raises for reconciliation with God and others.

The reading is 2 Corinthians 5:11-21. This text is from the New Revised Standard Version.

11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we try to persuade others; but we ourselves are well known to God, and I hope that we are also well known to your consciences.

12 We are not commending ourselves to you again, but giving you an opportunity to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast in outward appearance and not in the heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. 14 For the love of Christ urges us on, because we are convinced that one has died for all; therefore all have died. 15 And he died for all, so that those who live might live no longer for themselves, but for him who died and was raised for them.

16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view; even though we once knew Christ from a human point of view, we know him no longer in that way. 17 So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! 18 All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us. 20 So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
